Criss-Cross Applesauce

Put ’em Up has become my kitchen’s bible.  Over the last couple of months, we’ve made applesauce, apple jelly, spicy carrots, pickled chili peppers, preserved lemons, endless pints of dill pickles, pickled garlic, ginger peach jam, canned whole tomatoes, and oven-dried tomatoes.  Every recipe has been fabulous – easy to follow, fun to make, and interesting – and yummy! – to eat.  The dill pickles have been a particular favorite – we’ve made dozens and dozens of pints.  I especially like that the book is organized by ingredient; I think it makes it quite easy to find a recipe to deal with whatever produce is taking up more than its fair share of refrigerator space.

We’ve had a blast trying out new recipes, and now the pantry shelves are chock-full of tasty morsels.  I’m so glad I picked up Put ’em Up!
